Arch Platform
From Data to Expert-Level Action Automatically
As HARMAN expanded its global automotive electronics manufacturing operations, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering teams faced an increasingly difficult challenge: how to consistently scale manufacturing expertise across a growing global production network.
Engineering specialists frequently traveled between facilities to diagnose issues and support improvement initiatives. Individual plants relied on locally developed tools and methodologies, making it difficult to establish consistent execution or rapidly transfer successful practices across the organization.
Traditional dashboards provided visibility into production performance but did not consistently translate insight into standardized action. HARMAN recognized the need for a common platform capable of transforming manufacturing knowledge into a scalable enterprise capability.
Key challenges included:
To create a more consistent and scalable operating model, HARMAN partnered with Arch Systems to establish a standardized approach to factory intelligence across its global manufacturing network.
Beginning with a lighthouse deployment at HARMAN’s Suzhou, China facility, HARMAN implemented the Arch Factory Intelligence Platform to connect real-time machine and production data with prioritized alerts, guided workflows, and role-based actions. These capabilities help operators, engineers, and production leaders respond more consistently to operational issues across manufacturing sites.
Capabilities and best practices validated at Suzhou are now being standardized and deployed across additional facilities, enabling more consistent execution, comparable performance metrics, and scalable continuous improvement across regions.
At connected manufacturing locations, Arch-enabled control rooms provide HARMAN teams with centralized visibility into production performance, enabling them to monitor operations, analyze process performance, and track the execution and effectiveness of improvement activities in real time.
Rather than relying on dashboards alone, HARMAN is connecting real-time manufacturing data to guided operational decisions and execution. This creates a common foundation for faster response, more consistent decision-making, and continuous improvement across its global manufacturing network.
Approximately 30% growth in total placements across four manufacturing sites.
Improved Defects Per Million Units performance, supporting sustained quality improvement.
Consistent operational gains across multiple manufacturing sites.
Helped HARMAN improve utilization of existing manufacturing capacity without adding new production lines.
The Suzhou facility serves as HARMAN’s lighthouse for advanced manufacturing analytics and guided operational execution.
Successful capabilities and workflows validated at Suzhou are standardized and extended across additional manufacturing sites, allowing connected facilities to benefit from proven operational methods while maintaining the flexibility to address local requirements.
This lighthouse-to-scale deployment model enables HARMAN to:
Since the PACE Award site visit, HARMAN and Arch have continued advancing the Agentic AI capabilities behind the initiative.
The latest capabilities extend quality investigations beyond the machine where a defect is detected. Starting from an AOI inspection defect or ICT test failure, an AI agent can trace the issue upstream into the Pick-and-Place process, analyze material and equipment history, test competing causes against the evidence, rule out alternatives, identify an evidence-supported root cause, and recommend a specific corrective action.
This agentic workflow streamlines investigative steps that traditionally require engineers to manually assemble and analyze evidence across machines and systems. By connecting inspection and test results with board and placement history and other manufacturing data, the agent can investigate where a defect originated rather than limiting analysis to the point where it was detected.
For HARMAN, this advancement is designed to deliver three key benefits:

Trace failures to the specific unit, board, component, or process.

Automatically correlate inspection, machine, program, and MES data.

Identify root causes and recommend actions to minimize repeat defects and stabilize quality.

“This collaboration has helped us transform factory intelligence from isolated site improvements into a scalable capability across our global manufacturing network. By making manufacturing expertise and operational best practices available across facilities, we’re improving execution, accelerating continuous improvement and creating a stronger foundation for AI-driven manufacturing.”

Manufacturers have spent years connecting equipment and collecting production data. The greater challenge is turning that data into operational decisions and making manufacturing expertise consistently available across a global production network.
HARMAN’s implementation demonstrates how the Arch Factory Intelligence Platform can transform real-time manufacturing data into guided operational decisions that scale across sites. By combining a standardized manufacturing data foundation with guided workflows and increasingly advanced Agentic AI capabilities, HARMAN is creating a repeatable operating model that improves utilization, quality, and operational resilience while accelerating continuous improvement.
The joint HARMAN and Arch initiative, “Scaling Factory Intelligence with Agentic AI,” was named a finalist for the 2026 Automotive News PACE Award.
Arch Systems is a manufacturing intelligence platform that combines a governed manufacturing data foundation with autonomous AI in a single platform. Arch unifies fragmented factory data, including equipment, MES, and enterprise systems, into trusted operational context, then puts trained expert manufacturing AI agents on top of it to investigate, reason, and act across quality, planning, and operations. The result is expert-level decision-making that scales across every line and site, without infrastructure overhauls or multi-year transformation projects. Manufacturers see measurable results in weeks rather than years: less downtime, higher quality, and greater efficiency. Learn more at archsys.io.
